Hope Still Remains

Last night our family sat down to watch “Girl Meets World” together. This has become one of our favorite shows. We have fallen in love with the two main characters who remind us of our twin daughters. Maya, who has had a rough time with her mom, has been adopted by Riley’s family as they try to hep her navigate life with positive role models. Riley and she are the best of friends and have that bond, even in the hard moments, we all desire to have with a friend. Riley is the one with the happy, everything will be great outlook on life while Maya sees everyone and everything letting her down. They balance each other as they discuss, debate and link arms together in life.

This particular episode dealt with HOPE. Maya had someone, Sean, come into her life that has taken a father like role with her. He is just as worried about getting hurt as she is because he dealt with his mother leaving him behind when he was young. He understands her more than anyone else. Sean ends up taking her shopping and is warned by Cory (his best friend and Riley’s dad) that this will change him. He laughs and says it won’t effect him at all. As Maya comes out of the dressing room in a beautiful, simple dress he is speechless as she glows. He falls into the chair and gets what Cory was telling him. He tells her to go back in and try on more but to keep that look (hope) on her face.

The next day at school, she is on the front row radiating as Cory leads the class in a discussion about Hope. He uses hurricane Katrina and how the people rebuilt the city to guide the class to the main question, in which he singles out Maya; what sustained the people of New Orleans? Maya finally answers Hope.  It’s not the city that builds hope, it is the people in the city. He then tells Maya, it’s not the clothes that make her beautiful, it’s the hope on her face.

As I watched this with my family, my heart lifted to God because that is what He calls His children to wear on their hearts and countenance. WE HAVE THE GREATEST HOPE! Our God, the Alpha and Omega, the Redeemer, the King who NOW sits on His Throne and that will never change. He was, is and will be. He has gone before us and ordained each day. He is not surprised by anything. No doubt His heart breaks when man rejects Him because He knows the outcome. Yet, He continues to give us chance after chance after chance. He loves us. WE HAVE HOPE!

Titus 2:11-15 tells us:

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed HOPE and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to REDEEM us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.”

He, Jesus, is THE REDEEMER of men and is not done yet. He is still moving in hearts today. You get to be a part of this! So, as you rise each morning, go before your Father above and ask for HIS HOPE to fill you. (1 Peter 3:15) So, when you go out you will radiate HIS HOPE to a lost world that needs to see this HOPE that only Jesus can give.
